journey to a tiny gilded world
This site has been created in celebration of the amazing
three-dimensional Dresden ornaments produced from mid-18th century to
the 1920's in Germany. My intension is to simply record, with images,
the astounding variety and beauty of these pieces, and begin to form a
comprehensive visual record for all to enjoy. The images you see here
represent many collections, including my own.

Come and discover the worlds’ largest collection of old teddy
bears, as well as beautiful dolls, toy shops, doll’s houses
both
old and new, constructed true to the scale of 1:12.
At the Barfüsserplatz in the heart of Basle, 6000 artistically
arranged objects are displayed on four floors of the museum, totalling
1000m2 (ca. 11000 sq.ft.). The exhibits date back to the beginning of
the nineteenth century and reflect the styles of the day. A in a small
doll’s house, there are many objects to be admired throughout
the
museum. When you enter, you step into the fascinating world of teddy
bears, dolls, toy shops, doll’s houses and recent miniatures
built to the scale of 1:12. The unique concept for the display of this
exhibition enables old and new exhibits to tell their tales.
The Doll’s House Museum is the largest of its kind in Europe.
It
houses the world’s largest collection of over 2500 old teddy
bears – teddys, which are already of a ripe old age, the
oldest
ones dating back to 1904.
